Nowadays, in a world of technological advancement, whereby now we can always (or almost) get everything immediately, the Sicilians want to make a change of course.
The new efficient delivery services are riding the wave of the lockdown period, and they have grown exponentially. As a result, we customers have become less aware that what we own and eat is the product of a building process, and we often do not pay attention to it. Furthermore, unwittingly, we preclude ourselves from the opportunity to discover the pleasure of making, to create with our hands what we love. Whether it's about hobbies set aside over the years (for example, I have rediscovered my passion for drawing and painting!), or to try new activities and discover passions that we would never have imagined, there are moments in which we feel the absolute need to go back to the roots. In this case, many Sicilians have taken this concept literally!
In fact, in 2014, in Palermo was born "Gli Orti Delle Fate", a non-profit organization set up by Fausto Terranova, who expressed his desire to devote himself to "doing" with the creation of urban gardens, shared with other Sicilians who enthusiastically welcomed the idea. They can be defined as social gardens, where you can share the effort and, all according to the green, organic and sustainable philosophy, respecting the territory and the garden neighbors. Among the latter in particular, it is easy to create networking and sharing.
This initiative fits perfectly with the slow and responsible travel philosophy I want to encourage as a travel agent. That's why I am proud to include this kind of experience in the Slow-Sicily proposals I have created for those who need to unplug, turn off the phone and enjoy an experience that rediscovers the roots of our being men on the earth that we have. nourishes with his gifts.
